NOTE: We will be raffling off several items with the proceeds going to The Fisher House. We will also accept donations of items that can be sent to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan (see a list of items below*).

Arthur Miller is one of America’s most honored and prolific playwrights. The author of such classics as Death Of A Salesman, A View From A Bridge, After The Fall, and The Crucible, Miller’s contribution to the stage sets him apart in the 20th century and beyond.

All My Sons, which brought him his first Broadway success and his first Tony Award, is set post World War II and tells the story of Joe Keller. A shipment of faulty cylinders has left Joe’s factory, resulting in the deaths of twenty-one pilots. Joe has always maintained his innocence in the matter while his business partner serves a long prison sentence but Joe’s guilt comes to light and the consequences are staggering for him, his wife and surviving son (the other, ironically, gone missing in the war).

As is typical of Arthur Miller, All My Sons takes the “American Dream” and turns it inside out, presenting a deeper and often darker view. The play was recently revived on Broadway in an acclaimed production starring John Lithgow and Dianne Wiest.

ALL MY SONS, written by one of America’s greatest playwrights, Arthur Miller, won the Tony for Best Authored Play in 1947. Like all of Miller’s work, the play tackles important social issues and here, the subject is war profiteering and the pursuit of The American Dream (at what cost?).

Though the work was written more than a generation ago, these themes reverberate to present times as well. As this nation currently engages in two conflicts overseas, the questions Miller raises are worth asking again. The cast and I would welcome such a discourse.

To that end, if you or someone you know, veteran, ethics professor, preacher, homemaker, etc., would be interested in starting a roundtable, where we could quote the text of the play and begin to discuss the subject matter in depth, please call the theatre at (610) 375-9106 and leave us a message.

The cast and I are increasingly in awe of the accomplishment of this play, and we would love to bring anyone and everyone to it and its very worthy themes. Join us!

Director
